Elected Members backed the proposal at today’s Full Council meeting, following a similar approach adopted for the Royal Wedding in April 2011 and the Queen’s Jubilee on 5 June 2012.
Stirling Council Provost, Christine Simpson, said: “Our staff have worked hard in new and often challenging circumstances to keep Council services running for the people who live in our communities and I am delighted that we have taken this chance to give them a well-deserved extra day off.”
Operational services will not be disrupted by the extra day-off while £42,500 was also approved to be provided from General Fund Reserves to cover the cost of Early Learning and Childcare provision, which will continue as normal in line with Scottish Government requirements.
