A total of 497 responses were received from residents and workers from all across the Council area, spanning age ranges from 16 to 75 and above, signalling one of the best responses to a budget engagement process in recent years.

Convener of the Council’s Finance and Economy Committee, Cllr Margaret Brisley, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who filled in this survey during such uncertain times.

“Ongoing restrictions made it impossible for us to meet face to face but we still wanted to get an understanding of our citizens’ feelings with regards to some of the more difficult proposals we may have to consider as part of this year’s budget-setting process.

“Engage Stirling helped us offer a simple but effective digital solution to that problem, and I’m really pleased to have received such a response.”

Budget setting on 11 March

The results from the survey will be coupled with existing responses from previous engagement projects like the Residents Survey and Locality Action Plans, as well officer savings proposals, to create a comprehensive and informative package ahead of the budget-setting meeting on 11 March.

Cllr Alison Laurie, Vice Convener, added: “We launched this survey to understand what our residents care about most and what they feel is most important to the area.

“The responses have achieved that goal and have also furnished us with further insight into public opinion on some of the transformational work we’ll have to consider, such as how we use our buildings and work with communities so my thanks go to everyone who took part.”
