Members of the Planning and Regulation Panel yesterday (Tuesday 6 October) backed plans by developers Cala Homes to build 89 new houses at the rural location.
The proposals will create a vibrant community with plentiful green space and a village green on the derelict site.
A mix of house types consisting of bungalows, terraced, semi-detached and detached properties, ranging from 2 bedroom to 5 bedrooms, will be built.
As part of the application an area of the site has also been earmarked for development as commercial space.
Planning in principle has also been granted for CALA to develop a care home and business units, which could follow at a later stage.
