A cluster of Stirling Council schools and nurseries have been awarded glowing reports from inspectors.
East Plean Primary

East Plean Primary and Nursery Class and Kippen Primary were widely praised by Education Scotland, receiving a rating of ‘very good’ or ‘good’ in all areas of their inspections.

Ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion was identified as a particular strength in both settings, with East Plean also lauded for its leadership of change.

There was also significant positive feedback for Balfron, Borestone, Doune, Raploch and Strathblane nurseries following unannounced inspections from the Care Inspectorate, Scotland’s national regulator for care services.

Balfron Nursery achieved the rare distinction of being awarded the highest possible grade – ‘excellent’ - in both themes of its inspection.

Meanwhile, Borestone, Doune, Raploch and Strathblane all earned a ‘very good’ score from inspectors in both areas of their assessment.

In 2019, the Local Government Benchmarking Framework report rated Stirling Council’s early learning and childcare service as the joint best in Scotland.

Elected members were presented with the reports during a virtual meeting of the Council’s Children and the Young People Committee on Thursday, 5 November.

Fantastic reports

Convener of the Committee, Cllr Susan McGill said: “With the ongoing challenges and uncertainty of the pandemic, it’s a welcome fillip to see these fantastic reports for our schools and nurseries.

“The consistently high levels of achievement across our learning and care settings shows that our children and young people are getting the best possible start in life – a huge well done to all involved.”

The committee also heard about significant improvements at Park Drive Nursery.

Outstanding work

Vice Convener, Christine Simpson said: “Congratulations to all the staff in our schools and nurseries for these impressive inspection reports and it’s encouraging to hear major improvements have already been identified at Park Drive Nursery.

“These reports are further evidence that children and young people in the Stirling area are receiving the highest standards of care and learning, which is only possible due to the outstanding work and dedication of staff and the tremendous support of the wider nursery and school communities.”
