Recordings of remote Stirling Council committee meetings held during June will now be available to the public.
Stirling Council Update

The decision was taken with immediate effect at yesterday’s full Council meeting after elected members discussed and approved a report on the topic from the Chief Governance Officer.

The plans were first announced by Stirling Council last week after a diet of remote Committee meetings was scheduled for the month of June, including two full Council meetings on the 4th and 30th.

The report was approved by a vote of 16 to 7 before Councillors moved on to discuss the rest of the agenda, which included comprehensive reports on Stirling’s response to Coronavirus and the potential financial impact of the pandemic on the local authority.

The full recording of the meeting is now available on Stirling Council’s official YouTube page.

Welcoming the move, Cllr Scott Farmer said: “This is a positive step forward for the Council in increasing transparency of local democracy during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I hope residents enjoy the opportunity to see how their local representatives on the Council work on their behalf while we are unable to meet in person.”

Depute Leader, Cllr Danny Gibson added: “It’s a new world for many of us but it’s important the wheels of local democracy continue to spin, and that the public can see that happening.”
