A new e-petition platform is now live as part of Stirling Council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring easier access to democracy, by listening to and taking account of the views of the public.

Housed on the Council’s new Engage Stirling portal, which went live today (Friday 4th December), the online petitions platform makes it easier for people to petition the Council or to support a petition.

The Council now has an easy to access database of all petitions received, their levels of support and the Council’s response.

Stirling Council Leader, Councillor Scott Farmer, said: “Our aim is to make Stirling Council as accessible as possible, while providing good quality services which meet the needs of communities, and public petitions are a useful tool in encouraging communities to fully participate in the decision making process.

“This new e-petition platform gives residents a simple way of expressing their views and engaging in community issues, while increasing the visibility and transparency of the petition process.”

Before the Council introduced this process members of the public could only petition Stirling Council in paper/physical form. The e-petition system does not replace paper petitions and residents can still petition the Council in the traditional way.
