Members of the Planning and Regulation Panel backed changes that will allow all civic licence holders to opt for a three year licence renewal.
The decision was taken after consultation with the Taxi and Private Hire Forum and brings Stirling Council into line with other licensing authorities.
Certain civic licences, including taxi and private driver licences, taxi and private hire vehicle licences and street trader licences, were previously granted for one year and were required to be renewed annually.
The option of a three-year licence will be limited to existing licence holders at renewal. On any new application being made to the Council, a licence would continue to be granted for a period of one year.
Convenor of the Planning and Regulation Panel, Councillor Alasdair MacPherson, said: “We have listened to and worked alongside the taxi industry to deliver new guidelines that will be of benefit to both drivers and companies. A successful local taxi and private hire licensing regime is essential for the people of Stirling and we want to be able to facilitate that.”
