Active Stirling is seeking volunteer independent Directors to join its Board and help deliver Stirling’s Sport, Physical Activity and Healthy Living Strategy.
The strategy is delivered through a multi-agency approach involving the Council, Active Stirling, NHS Forth Valley, the University of Stirling and other key local and national partners.
Innovation and drive
Volunteer Independent Directors are needed to provide the innovation and drive to support the delivery of the Strategy by taking an individual and collective responsibility to make sure Active Stirling - as a charitable trust wholly owned by the Council - plays a major role in delivering quality sport and physical activity opportunities across Stirling’s communities.
The Directors are required to help the organisation to run efficiently and drive innovation, excellence and inclusion across every aspect of its work.
The Independent Director role includes:
- Providing strategic direction to the Senior Staff Team
- Ensuring independent oversight and providing constructive challenge
- Bringing expertise, vision and enthusiasm for changing lives through sport and physical activity
- Working with staff, clubs and partner agencies to make Stirling the best place for sport, physical activity and healthy living.
The role offers successful candidates the perfect platform to change the lives of service users and to build their skills and local networking opportunities.
Independent Directors will have different skills, backgrounds and experiences that, when brought together with existing Directors, will provide Active Stirling with a wealth of experience and commitment.
People of all backgrounds
David Roxby, Chair of Active Stirling’s Board of Directors, said: “This opportunity to invite more volunteer Directors to join the Active Stirling board creates further potential for our partnership with Stirling Council to develop as we support the strategy for Sport, Physical Activity and Health Living and will help us continue to meet the needs of all Stirling communities.”
Stuart Oliver, Senior Manager of Economic Development and Communities at Stirling Council added: “Many Independent Directors find working as part of a leadership group like this to be hugely energising and satisfying.
“We’re looking for people from varied backgrounds and a Directorship can fit around your work, home and other commitments. It is an excellent way to give back to your community.”
