Members of the Planning and Regulation Panel granted a temporary entertainment licence to the Doune the Rabbit Hole festival.
The event, which in previous years has attracted around 2,000 visitors to the region, will run over three days on Cardross Estate, Port of Menteith, between Friday 13th and Sunday 15th July.
As well as live music across a number of stages, the festival will provide entertainment via stalls, family fun and food and drink. Bands will include Big Country, Levellers, This is the Kit, and Akala, while the family area will host a kids tent, a free craft table, a rolling programme of dance and craft pop ups, and an imaginary zone.
The Council’s Licensing Team and Environmental Health have worked alongside festival organisers to address issues raised by residents regarding last year’s event.
Conditions have been placed upon the Festival regarding noise levels, and an acoustic consultant has been employed by organisers to monitor sound levels throughout the event, with all headline acts set to finish each evening at 11pm, when the main stage will close.
Convenor of the Planning and Regulation Panel Alasdair MacPherson said, “This is a music festival which can be enjoyed by all the family and will attract a large number of visitors to the area. Our officers have met with organisers on a regular basis to work through the concerns and issues raised through a small number of complaints, and provide reassurance to local residents.”
Panel member Councillor Evelyn Tweed added, “The organisers of the festival have conducted a belts and braces approach to dealing with the problems raised by residents, and have put in a lot of work to provide reassurance on planning concerns. I feel this festival will provide a huge economic boost to the area and hope to see it flourish in the future.”
