Local families are set to benefit from a host of new play equipment, including a climbing tower, zip wire and sand diggers, to encourage children to get active.
The funding has also been used to replace older equipment with new apparatus and help provide a variety of play experiences for all age groups.
Access around the site has been improved by the creation of a new footpath through the play area, while Stirling Council Roads Service will be extending a short section of footpath near the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).
In addition, the boundary fence and gate has been replaced, new picnic tables and benches have been installed and existing swings will be painted during spring by Land Services staff.
Enhancements to the play facilities at Moray Park were funded by a contribution of £100,000 from Housing Developers Miller Homes.
Councillor Jim Thomson, convenor of Stirling Council’s Environment and Housing committee said: “We want our children to be as active and healthy as possible, and the refurbishment of the playpark with such a wide variety of new and improved equipment has produced a fantastic facility that I am sure the children will have a great time using.
“The improvements made to the playpark are a wonderful example of the council engaging with the local community, including undertaking consultation work with the Primary School, to deliver a play park that will of huge benefit to families.”
To mark the refurbishment of the park, Primary 3 children from Doune Primary assisted Stirling Council Land Services staff to plant three mature Purple Birch (Betula Pendula Purpurea) trees, which were funded by the contractor (Landcare Solutions Ltd) that completed.
