Stirling’s Our Place; Our Space project focuses on young people being at the heart of influencing service design associated with the following themes: education, transport, mental health and Stirling City centre development.
Stirling’s Youth Gathering in November 2017, which was planned, organised and delivered by the Youth Forum for young people from across Stirling, identified these four themes as key areas that they wanted to influence change in.
The project is supported by Stirling Council’s corporate management team, CivTech and Young Scot.
Stirling’s Youth Forum members wanted to capture other young people’s views from across Scotland on these themes and TEDx Youth as part of their research.
Convenor of the Children and Young People Committee, Councillor Susan McGill, said, “This was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to share the themes of Stirling’s Our Place; Our Space project with the large audience that TEDx can attract.
“Stirling’s Youth Forum members were able to showcase their own array of talents, and also promote Stirling itself, while interacting with young people from across Scotland. I look forward to hearing how the feedback they received can help benefit the Our Place; Our Space project moving forward.”
Stirling Council Chief Education Officer Kevin Kelman said, “We want to provide opportunities for our young people to use their creativity and courage to shape our service design in Stirling. It is great to see our young people undertaking further research on the design of our services at this national event.”
