The annual military show boasts a jam-packed programme of events and will be headlined on Saturday, June 30, with musical entertainment from TV’s The Voice winner, and proud local lad, Stevie McCrorie.
The popular event is run by the Armed Forces and local authorities across the UK and features a range of bands, parades, music and military displays as well as supporting a wide range of charities present on the day.
Stirling’s 2018 event will see the Parachute Regiment’s Red Devils lead the line from the skies while military bands along with military personnel, vehicles and a wide array of family-oriented fun will entertain the crowds on the ground.
Serving personnel, veterans and cadets will gather at the foot of King Street on the morning of the event at around 11.15am before stepping off at 12 noon to officially kick start the day with their customary parade.
Stirling Provost, Christine Simpson said: “This event is a wonderful way for Stirling to show its support to the Armed Forces past, present and future and enjoy a fun-packed family day out.
“There will be parades, displays, music, dancing and lots of interactive events throughout the whole day to keep all the family entertained.
“This year we are also delighted to welcome the Red Devils back to Stirling, who delighted the crowds in 2014 and I’m sure will do so again alongside a great line up of guests and performers.”
Formed in 1964, the Red Devils are the parachute display team of the British Army and The Parachute Regiment. The team is currently 15-strong and performs more than 350 tandem parachute descents, and 60 public displays each year in the UK and internationally, into charity, sporting, military and social events.
Providing a more glamorous look back at the military’s history will be the Kennedy Cupcakes, a 1940s/50s inspired dance troupe, who will bring a touch of razzmatazz to proceedings with a string of show-stopping routines.
They will be joined by local girl Dionne Hickey, a talented young singer following hot on the heels of Stirling favourite Stevie McCrorie, who both add to the array of top acts on the day.
The UK Garrison Storm Troopers, formed in 2000, will also be mingling with the crowds for Star Wars fans brave enough to get up close and personal with some of the Galactic Empire’s most iconic foot soldiers.
The free entry event starts at 11am, with entertainment running until the close at 5pm.
