Staff and pupils have begun 2018 with celebrations after receiving glowing reports from the Care Inspectorate.

Killearn Primary School Nursery was graded at the highest possible level for quality of care and support, as well as environment.

Inspectors commented that strong leadership of the nursery’s “warm and friendly” staff meant children there were achieving their “potential to an outstanding level”.

The nursery was also complimented for its use of outdoor space and involvement with the local community, with children making frequent trips to the local care home.

A parent commented to inspectors: “The staff are warm and friendly and put in a huge effort to make children feel safe, happy and secure.”

Meanwhile Doune Nursery achieved ‘Very Good’ grades in both the ‘Quality of care and support’ and quality of management and leadership’ categories.

The Nursery was also praised for their care to nurture partnerships with a child’s whole family, with inspectors noting that the process allowed staff to “support children’s individual needs extremely well.”

A parent asked about the nursery told inspectors: “My daughter loves Doune nursery. She asks to go every day. She has formed a bond with her keyworker, who she trusts. The staff are helpful and get us parents involved in the day to day learning within the nursery.”

Education Convenor Susan McGill said: “The staff and families at Killearn Primary School Nursery and Doune Nursery should be really proud of the work they do every day to make sure our children continue to be learn and develop important skills for the next step in their education. Our teaching staff really do go above and beyond for our young people – something which these reports very much reflect. Well done to all.”
