UPDATE: The midnight event at Stirling Hogmanay has now sold out, but tickets are still on sale for the earlier family event.
A finalist on Gary Barlow’s TV show, Let it Shine, Mark will showcase his incredible vocals at the later of two New Year’s events at Stirling Castle’s Esplanade.
The popular singer/songwriter will perform a solo set before joining Scotland’s top rock choir, Soul Nation to get the party into full swing ahead of a second thrilling fireworks display which will herald in 2019.
Local band The Cobalts will also rock the Castle with their brand of ‘60s-inspired music with a modern twist, while Capital Scotland DJ Fat Brestovca will keep revellers entertained with upbeat anthems and competitions.
To ensure everyone can enjoy the occasion, once again, the Council has organised two fireworks shows, including an earlier one for families.
The family event starts at 7.45pm (gates open at 7.15pm) and finishes at 9.15pm, while the later event gets underway at 10.45pm (gates open at 10.15pm) and concludes at 12.15am.
In celebration of the National Wallace Monument’s upcoming 150th Anniversary year, the midnight fireworks display will simultaneously light up both Stirling Castle and the Monument, choreographed to a Calvin Harris medley. This promises to be an unforgettable spectacle.
And to climax the Year of the Young People 2018, the family-friendly fireworks display at 9 pm will be accompanied by songs chosen by young people following a public vote on social media.
Stirling Council Leader Scott Farmer said: “This fantastic programme of music and entertainment, along with the two spectacular firework displays, mean Stirling is the place to be for bringing in the New Year with family and friends.
“It’s brilliant to see that ticket sales are already higher than they were at this stage last year, which shows the growing reputation of Stirling’s Hogmanay celebrations and our strong record of hosting top-class large-scale events.”
Convener of the Community Planning and Regeneration Committee, Councillor Chris Kane said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our beautiful city as we ring in 2019 in stunning style, with fireworks lighting up two of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks.
“We have secured an exciting line-up of musical performers to keep everyone entertained, and I am delighted that families and young people will continue to have the opportunity to get involved and enjoy the fun of this special celebration.”
Stirling’s Hogmanay in supported by Scotland’s Winter Festivals event fund, managed by EventScotland on behalf of Scottish Government.
Although no alcohol will be on sale, over 18s can bring alcohol for personal consumption. No glass will be allowed and a challenge 25 policy will be in place (stewards or police may ask for ID from anyone bringing alcohol who appears younger than 25).
Revellers at the Esplanade won’t go hungry either, with a variety of tasty treats available from hot food vendors.
The Go Forth Stirling Festive Landtrain will offer a fun way for families to travel up to the castle through the historic city centre, dropping off at the top of Broad Street (last drop off 7.45pm). This service, however, will be dependent on weather conditions.
Tickets for Stirling’s Family Hogmanay are priced at £6 each or £20 for a family of four (attendees of all ages must have a valid ticket). For Stirling’s Hogmanay, tickets are priced at £10 each.
