The local authority has acted on feedback from communities affected by the cancellation of the C60 bus service, which sought the continuation of a timetabled service for the area.
The C60 bus service, which is currently operated by Kingshouse Travel Ltd on behalf of Stirling Council, was scheduled to cease operation on Saturday 30 December. The operators had given notice to terminate their contract due to an anticipated shortage of PSV-qualified drivers.
The local authority hosted community engagement sessions in areas covered by the C60 service to identify the preferred way forward as to how any future service should be delivered.
As a result Stirling Council entered negotiations with Kingshouse Travel Ltd to prolong a timetabled service, and agreement was reached to extend operation until March 2019 as the company began the process of arranging training for additional drivers.
Convenor of the Environment and Housing Committee, Councillor Jim Thomson, said, “We are delighted that we have been able to maintain the running of this service until March 2019.
“I think this is a great example of the council listening and responding to feedback from local communities on how they would like the future of the service to be delivered.
“The extension of the termination date will allow council officers to review options in the light of community feedback on how the service can be delivered in the future.”
