recent unannounced inspection of Hillview Nursery deemed the quality of care and support and quality of management and leadership as ‘excellent.’

Inspectors focussed on two aspects in each quality theme during their visit – transition support for children moving into nursery or starting primary school, and supporting children with additional support needs.

The report showed that staff have an “excellent approach to supporting children’s individual needs,” recognising the importance of working with the whole family and were skilled at building positive relationships with all family members.

The home visit offered to families was also identified as a key strength which, from the outset, helped to develop strong relationships with parents and carers and established partnership working.

Inspectors also noted that the nursery manager was highly skilled in assessing staff skills and abilities and supporting their professional development which resulted in a “highly skilled staff team.”

Other agencies and parents stated that a key strength of the team was the ongoing communication that took place between everyone involved with the family.

Alan Easton, Acting Depute at Hillview, said: “We are all very proud of the results of our Inspection at Hillview and would like to thank our staff team, parents and support professionals who took part.”

Stirling Council’s Chief Education Officer Kevin Kelman said: “"We are delighted that the many strengths and achievements of Hillview Children and Family Centre have been recognised by the Care Inspectorate. This is a reflection of the dedication, hard work and commitment of the nursery community to provide the very best learning experiences for Hillview's children and their families."
