Stirling Council is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist in Sustrans’ Community Links PLUS competition to secure funding for active travel options in our area. Community Links PLUS is looking bold and innovative proposals that will deliver high-quality cycling and walking infrastructure across the country to allow more people to choose active travel options, e.g. walking, running and cycling.
We submitted our initial ideas in January and are pleased to announce that we have progressed to the next stage of the funding competition, along with four other projects from other local authorities; City of Edinburgh Council (two entries), Glasgow City Council and Highland Council.
Our proposal is to improve the walking and cycling routes from the city centre to Castleview Park and Ride/Forth Valley College, and from the city centre to the University of Stirling. This is part of our wider strategy for improving both walking and cycling links and experience throughout our city.
We would like to share our ideas so far and invite your input and comment on how we might be able to improve our proposals before we submit detailed plans. We will be running drop in sessions at the following times and locations this week which everyone is welcome to attend:
- Wednesday 17th May, 1:00 - 6:00pm at the Cowane Centre
- Thursday 18th May, 1:00 – 6:00pm at Stirling University
- Friday 19th May, 1:30 – 5:00pm at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery
Stirling Council officers will be present at each of these sessions to answer any questions you may have about the plans and to take your ideas and comments. If you have feedback or thoughts you would like to be considered but you cannot attend any of these sessions, please email these to communications@stirling.gov.uk.
