Stirling Council’s Ranger Service and the Friends of Plean Country Park are looking for volunteers this weekend.

The Friends of Plean Country Park and Stirling Council Ranger Service are holding a volunteer day to remove the non-native, invasive Rhododendron ponticum shrub.

This will be done using hand tools, with a range of tasks to suit everyone.  This event is held annually to keep the invasive shrubs at bay and allow our native plant species to flourish, while celebrating the end of another fantastic year working with volunteers in the community.

So whether you’re a seasoned veteran or coming along for the first time, you will be warmly welcomed, given full training in the use of hand tools, a hot lunch, mince pies and topped up with refreshments and treats during the day which have been kindly funded by CSV.

If you fancy a day out in the fresh air, in good company with fine grub, whilst doing your bit to help save our wildlife, then please get in touch by emailing countryside@stirling.gov.uk or calling 01786 40 40 40 and asking for the Ranger Service (booking essential). The event will be held on Sunday 4th December 2016 at Plean Country Park from 8am – 4pm.
