Stirling Council, together with the National Records of Scotland, recently welcomed representatives from across all 32 local authorities to their Annual Registrars Seminar.
Held in Hotel Colessio, this was the first time Stirling has ever hosted the annual event, which featured guest speakers from the National Records of Scotland, Scottish Government, Stirling Council together with the District Registrar and a member of Stirling Council’s Registration Team.
The event allowed Stirling Council to showcase their aspirations for the area following the City Deal announcement, and also to highlight Stirling as a fantastic place to work, live and visit.
District Registrar Elizabeth Ferguson took the opportunity to share the successes of her team, including their first wedding fayre which took place in Aberfoyle earlier in the year, as well as the growth in the number of ceremonies taking place in this district as a result of the additional marketing and promotional work carried out.
Local businesses Campbells Shortbread, Blair Drummond Safari Park, Thomas Myers & Co and Hotel Colessio also provided generous contributions to the event, which received positive feedback from attendees.
Elizabeth said: “This was a fantastic event and I’m so proud to have been able to showcase Stirling and the Registration Service. We have a really diverse area with so much to offer, so it’s great to be able to bring that to a national forum.”
Stirling Council’s Community Planning and Regeneration Convenor Corrie McChord said: “We are delighted that the Registrars' Seminar was a success and warmly welcome their return to Stirling in the future. We are confident that the City Deal will offer the opportunity of even more organisations to visit and relocate in The Stirling area."
