Stirling Council Leader Johanna Boyd said it was “deeply disappointing” to see a further reduction in Councils’ core budgets.
“When added to the sizeable budget cuts we have already experienced, this settlement will undoubtedly have an impact on the vital services that we provide and the people who we provide them for. This settlement still represents a real-terms cut to Council funding. Councils will still have to budget for inflationary increases and increasing demand pressures, and the settlement announced yesterday does not fully cover these essential commitments. Stirling has already taken some very tough decisions on budget reductions for next year, and we will continue to seek ways to protect our services for all our people and, in particular, our most vulnerable citizens and communities.”
