It was an early rise for Stirling’s Provost this week to catch the post in time for Christmas.
Provost Mike Robbins visited the Dunblane Royal Mail Sorting Office to meet local posties and show his appreciation for their hard work over the busy festive period, and the role they play in the community throughout the year.
The provost met Raymond Brown and his team during the visit, who gave him a tour of the facility and filled him in on what goes on behind the scenes once we post our Christmas cards and parcels.
Last year, Royal Mail processed and delivered millions of parcels in December alone, and this year Royal Mail have hired 19,000 seasonal workers and opened nine temporary parcel sort centres across the UK, to deal with the festive mailbag.
Provost Mike Robbins said: “Our posties work incredibly hard all year round but particularly at this time of year - I was amazed at the number of boxes and parcels that could fit in to a Post Office van. I’d like to thank the team at Dunblane Sorting Office for their continued dedication to the service.”
