A recent unannounced inspection of Balfron Primary School Nursery has shown that the quality of care and support is ‘very good,’ while the quality of the nursery environment is ‘excellent.’

Inspectors noted that staff interacted and engaged warmly with children and supported them at time of change or transition. Staff respected children and included them on a daily basis.

The new management team has had a positive impact on all staff and this in turn has had a beneficial impact on the service provided, providing the children with a breadth of learning opportunities which have boosted their self-esteem.

A key strength noted during the inspection was the nursery’s newly created outdoor play area which has been developed to a very high standard and leads the way in outdoor play activities, even allowing children to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

As a result, children were involved in the local community harvest which showed a real commitment to children's involvement in their local community and provided them with a real sense of achievement.

Balfron Primary School head teacher Angus Black said: “We were happy to share with the Care Inspectorate, the high quality experiences that are provided in our nursery on a daily basis.  While the combination of community, families, staff and children works very well, we continue to look for innovative ways to develop the life of our nursery further.”

Education Convenor Alistair Berrill said: “An excellent result, and my congratulations to the pupils, parents and staff.”
