Castleview Nursery

Castleview school provides care and education for children with a range of severe and profound additional support needs, including nursery aged children. We are registered with the Care Inspectorate to offer up to 5 nursery children with additional support needs provision, aged 3-5. The children who attend Castleview school and nursery live throughout the Council area and almost all travel to school in transport provided by the authority. Some children also attend their local school or nursery to ensure they have opportunities to develop or maintain relationships with their peers.

The nursery is open 9am - 3pm and operates 38 weeks of the year.

Our learning environment maximises play and learning by offering physical spaces adapted to support specialist equipment and to offer opportunities such as hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and bespoke sensory environments. Multi-disciplinary working is a key aspect of how we support our learners with children and staff supported by NHS health professionals from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music therapy and speech and language therapy. We offer a full and engaging, child-centred curriculum, based on appropriate national guidance, with Health and Wellbeing and Communication at the heart of all we do.

Placement at Castleview

A decision to attend Castleview is made by a child’s family and the team who support them. This is often a multi-agency team including health visitor, educational psychologist and relevant therapists and Stirling Council Additional Support Needs Outreach team. The team around the child T.A.C) will submit an application to GIRFEC resource group (GRG) where a decision is made as to whether or not Castleview is the correct nursery placement. Parents/carers are fully involved in all decision making processes and once a decision is made, we work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition.
