Originally from the St Ninians area of Stirling, Neil attended Stirling High School and Edinburgh University, graduating with an MA in politics and economic history. He also completed an MSC in geographical information services (GIS). Before being elected as a Councillor in 2007, he worked in retail management for a major national supermarket chain, and as a GIS consultant for a local company.
He served as Vice-President of Edinburgh University Union in 2003. Neil is currently the leader of the Conservative Group at Stirling Council.
He’s a keen motorcyclist and enthusiastic musician, with a love of craft beer and whisky.
